Correct Size on Turnouts As more freedom of movement is required in an outdoor rug me suggest the use of a size larger than the stable rug, i.e. stable rug 6o"/outdoor rug -~ 63". The binding on the back of the rug (excluding the tail guard) should always be beyond the end of the horse to create a "gutter" area as on a house. Extra Neck Sizes have an additional 3" of material incorporated within each side of the neck, therefore extending the chest by 6", i.e. when fitting a 63" Extra Neck the back length will remain a 63" length but the bottom length will be a 66" length. FAL is the only manufacturer in the world offering this service.
To achieve the perfect fit it is best to take the trouble to make the following checks before using the rug.
If you feel the horse needs more room around the neck and shoulders you may need an extra deep neck size which is available in the Viking and Goliath ranges. Extra deep necks have an extra 3" each side at the front to give an extra 6" across the chest. Therefore an extra deep neck size will also measure an extra 3" in the overall length, for example a 66" regular neck rug will measure 66" along the bottom and a 66" extra deep neck will measure 69" along the bottom. If you think the rug fits well but way need a little extra to stop the neck elastic being stretched we can either supply elastic for your retailer to fit longer pieces or you can specify longer elastic when you order.
